Executive Director of Schools, Diocese of Parramatta

Greg Whitby is the Executive Director of Schools for the Parramatta Catholic Education Office and has extensive experience in K-12 schooling and senior system leadership.

Greg leads a multi-disciplinary team enabling the provision of quality learning and teaching in 77 primary and secondary schools. An understanding of how students learn in today's world is driving the development of innovative and sustainable learning frameworks aimed at improving the learning outcomes for all students.

As a regular speaker at national and international conferences, Greg talks about the need to place learning at the centre of the schooling process and the challenges for systems, schools leaders and educators to radically rethink the nature of schooling today. He focuses on areas such as de-privitising teaching practice, development of 21st Century pedagogies, learning networks, flexible school design and most importantly building and sustaining teaching cababilities.

Greg is a Commissioner of the Catholic Education Commission and Commission for Employment Relations as well as Chairing the Systemin Schools Employment Relations Committee, Church Resource's National ICT Committee and the Catholic Education Network (CEnet).

He holds postgraduate qualifications in curriculum, management and religious education. He is a fellow of the Australian Council of Educational Leaders (ACEL) and the Australian Institute of Management as well as a member of the Australian College of Educators (ACE).

in 2007, Greg was named the most innovative and creative educator in Australia by the Bulletin Magazine in its annual SMART 100 awards. He was also awarded the ACEL Presidential Citation for his contribution to Australian education and service to the Council.
