26-27 October 2006
Situated about an hour north of Dallas, Plano has approximately 70 large
schools providing schooling for nearly 60,000 students. Assistant Superintendent
for Technology, Jim Hirsh is a dynamic leader who has been working to
ensure that all students receive a quality twenty-first century learning
experience. The district has:
- completed a pilot of Myinternet (a virtual learning environment)
and will roll out across the district in 2007
- a robust internet infrastructure which supports a curriculum framework
for staff to use, adapt and share
Jim and I discussed challenges facing schooling today and agreed to
explore ways of sharing professional development and teachers' material.
